Background and Purpose of Referral Partner Agreement

Sony Payment Services offers a variety of online payment methods, including credit cards and convenience store payments. In recent years, the company has also been offering a wider range of payment solutions, like card-present payment services at physical stores and other facilities. Against the backdrop of the recently growing interest in BNPL services, the Company has been considering collaborating with a new BNPL service provider to offer a solution that meets the needs of their businesses. This is why the Company is pleased to announce that it has entered a referral partner agreement with Net Protections, a BNLP pioneer in Japan.
BNPL services will provide a secure and convenient shopping experience for customers and are expected to increase sales for businesses. Through this partnership, Net Protections will provide BNPL services for Sony Payment Services’ broad customer base, as well as its Group Company services, such as ticket sales, digital content, merchandise sales, and other services. Net Protections will offer three BNPL services to meet the needs of businesses: NP Atobarai, a BtoC e-commerce BNPL service; atone, a BtoC cardless BNPL service that can be used for both online and physical stores; and NP Atobarai air, a BtoC BNPL service for on-site services.
