Net Protections, Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shin Shibata; “Net Protections”) is pleased to announce that its Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service, atone, is now available on 17LIVE, one of Japan's largest live streaming platforms operated by 17LIVE Inc. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Jiang Honghui; "17LIVE"). Following the earlier adoption of our overseas BNPL service, AFTEE, to the 17LIVE Taiwan region, this new integration in Japan establishes a dual-market partnership across both regions.

Background of the Implementation

17LIVE is a premier live-streaming platform with over 50 million registered users worldwide, widely recognized as a pioneer in the live-streaming industries of both Japan and Taiwan.
Previously, 17LIVE implemented our overseas BNPL service, AFTEE, in its Taiwan region to address diverse local payment needs, improve convenience for users—especially the younger demographic without credit cards—and subsequently drive new customer acquisition.
When considering the implementation of atone in the 17LIVE Japan region, another BNPL service was already in place. However, atone was highly evaluated for its broad user base, which enabled the platform to acquire customer segments that the existing service could not fully cover. In addition, the decisive factor for this implementation was the ability to utilize a common system infrastructure with the already implemented AFTEE. This enables 17LIVE to significantly reduce the development workload while expanding its payment options in Japan and exploring new customer bases.
By integrating our BNPL services across both the Japanese and Taiwanese platforms, we are able to provide a seamless and secure purchasing experience to an even wider range of users.

About atone

atone is a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service available for both online and in-store purchases. Users can complete their purchases immediately and pay later without registering a bank account, credit card, or adding funds. For merchants, atone helps reduce cart abandonment by making checkout easier for customers who might otherwise leave without completing their purchase. In physical stores, atone supports cashless payments even for customers who have credit cards but prefer not to use them. Additionally, atone’s reward points program makes it easier for merchants to attract new customers and encourage repeat purchases.

About AFTEE

AFTEE is a BNPL service for overseas markets. Users can use the BNPL service by registering only their mobile phone number at the time of purchase, allowing them to pay for a month's worth of shopping all at once. It is also possible to choose installment payments of up to 24 times. This allows people who are apprehensive about online shopping or credit card usage, or who do not own a credit card, to enjoy safe and convenient shopping. Merchants can expect to acquire a broader range of customers by satisfying the needs of users who wish to pay via BNPL. In addition, merchants are free from burdensome operations because Net Protections handles all payment processing and fully guarantees against nonpayment risks. AFTEE's strengths lie in its highly sophisticated credit screening system and delinquency control technology. Leveraging the know-how of "NP Atobarai," a BNPL service for Japan with a track record of over 20 years of operations, AFTEE was launched in Taiwan in 2018 and has already achieved a high credit approval rate of approximately 96%. It is experiencing rapid growth in online and other markets, with the number of member stores in Taiwan now exceeding 7,700.
