Starting today, Yahoo Japan Corporation (headquartered in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward; Kentaro Kawabe, President and Representative Director), Net Protections, Inc. (headquartered in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward; Shin Shibata, CEO), and SB Payment Service Corp. (headquartered in Tokyo’s Minato Ward; Jun Shimba, Representative President and CEO) offer the “Yukkuri barai” post-payment service at the “Yahoo! Shopping” and “PayPay Mall” e-commerce sites operated by Yahoo Japan Corporation. This service will also be available at “LOHACO by ASKUL”, an online shopping site for general consumers, operated by ASKUL in cooperation with Yahoo Japan Corporation starting on August 2021.

“Yukkuri barai” is a payment method that uses the system of “NP Atobarai” Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service provided by Net Protections, Inc. and the system provided by SB Payment Service Corp. When user selects “Yukkuri barai” as their payment method, they will receive an invoice issued by Net Protections, Inc. after they have received the product, and they will be able to complete payment at a convenience store or bank. The due date is set on the date two months from the date the order was placed, providing users a flexible payment opportunity.

With the expansion of e-commerce, BNPL payment methods are expanding globally. The merits of a BNPL payment method are an aversion to the face-to-face transactions and the complex nature of cash on delivery, avoiding the risk of information leakage when using credit cards, and allowing the use of a post-payment service even without a credit card. There are the needs mainly from stay-at-home spouses and younger users.

Yahoo Japan Corporation expects that this service will improve both user convenience and sales at shops, and therefore is providing “Yukkuri barai” based on Net Protections’ “NP Atobarai” service, which is used by more than 15.8 million people annually, and the system offered by SB Payment Service Corp.
